Looking Back Moving Forward
This year’s conference marks a significant milestone for Music Therapy New Zealand Te Rōpū Puoro Whakaora o Aotearoa and celebrates 50 years as a professional practice. Friday night’s Anniversary Celebration also marks the 20-year anniversary of the Master of Music Therapy course, Te Herenga Waka-Victoria University of Wellington.
With the ethos of bringing our wider global community together in inclusive ways for dialogue and celebration, we are proud to present MThNZ’s first hybrid conference which includes a weekend of 49 presentations and 64 presenters from Aotearoa New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, India, Japan, USA and Canada. A further milestone will be the launch of a book detailing the history of Music Therapy New Zealand. Everyone attending the conference in person will receive a copy as part of their registration.
The Anniversary Celebration on Friday night will be held at the Hunter Council Chamber, Victoria University, Kelburn Campus. MThNZ’s 50th conference is located at the Wharewaka Function Centre, Cable Street in central Wellington. Both venues are accessible.
Registration includes attendance in person or online attendance. All registrants will also receive access to an online package of recordings of most conference sessions for a six month period after conference. We welcome music therapists, allied health professionals, government and non-government representatives, users of music therapy services and anyone who would like to learn more about this powerful medium that brings about positive change.
