Music Therapy with Shari – Music for Non-Musical Goals
I love experiencing sparks of connection, witnessing people’s sparks of meaningful progress, exploring what my Master’s training and music can do within a safe therapeutic framework.
People’s strengths, goals and their whole person are central to my practice. I draw on psychodynamic theories and utilise Neurologic Music Therapy in order to connect music with people’s non-musical needs.
I have enjoyed working with a range of people across the lifespan living with a range of needs since graduating in 2012, and it was a pleasure being part of the MThNZ Council 2014 – 2018 and contributing to the growth of music therapy in NZ Aotearoa. I am currently focusing my practice with those living with neurological conditions, mental health, and aged care including dementia. I provide contract services at a range of settings including a hospital, residential care homes and facilities, organisations, as well as private homes. I also offer supervision services, focusing on reflective, strengths-based and creative supervision models.
Member of Music Therapy New Zealand since 2010
